Yes! Unless otherwise stated, most captains will allow guests to pick a destination on their charter. Crab Island Florida is a popular choice, and depending on your departure point, not very far from Fort Walton Beach. Some private charters may not visit Crab Island, so it's always best to check with a Tripshock agent or your captain before booking.
2. Is a private charter boat worth it vs a public charter?
It really depends on the purpose of your trip, size of your group, and budget. If you just want to get out on the water with a small group or single family, and don't care to spend much money, you may opt for a public charter or "party boat". There are multiple dolphin cruises and excursions, including a Crab Island shuttle boat, that will offer an incredible time. No, swimming with dolphins in Destin and Fort Walton Beach is prohibited. Captains will not let you feed, touch, or swim with dolphins. You can try other activities like fishing, tubing, or swimming at the Crab Island sandbar. If you are hoping to swim with dolphins, you can head to the Gulfarium, or head to Panama City Beach where swimming with dolphins is allowed (aboard a specialized dolphin swim tour).
