1. Is there a lifeguard on duty?

Yes, lifeguards will be on duty from March until September, and will cover 8 miles of beach from the Flora-Bama, to the Gulf State Park Pavilion. For more information about Gulf Shores beach safety, click here.

The beaches are beautiful at Gulf State Park, with over 3.5 miles of gorgeous Gulf of Mexico shoreline! This area is known for its stunning blue-green waters, soft, white sand, wonderful wildlife, and scenic views that stretch as far as the eye can see. Gulf State Park is a great place to relax, soak up the sun, and enjoy a family-fun day at the beach.

3. Do I need to have a fishing license to fish on the pier?

Yes, in order to fish on the Gulf State Park Pier, anglers age 16 and up must have an Alabama saltwater fishing license. Those 15 years old and younger do not need a fishing license, as long as they are fishing with an adult who has one. Visitors can purchase their license in advance online, or purchase it through the Outdoor Alabama app upon arrival.

4. Is the pier handicap accessible?

Yes, the Gulf State Park Pier is handicap accessible. There are comfort stations located at the midpoint of the pier, as well as wheelchair accessible rail fishing. Accessible parking is also available close to the entrance, with barrier-free access to the pier.
