Orange Beach Indian & Sea Museum Visitors Guide

The Orange Beach Indian & Sea Museum houses local artifacts that reflect the area’s Native American and fishing heritage. In fact, the building itself has a rich history, as it was built in 1910 as a schoolhouse, has been a museum since 1995, and was moved to its current location in 1999. This museum is both entertaining and educational, and allows you to see and understand Alabama’s Gulf Coast from a new perspective.

One of their main attractions is a Native American dugout canoe made of cypress wood that is 35-feet long! Pottery found at Ono Island is proudly on display, as well, and estimated to be at least 1,000 years old. Families of local fishermen have also donated collectibles to the museum, to showcase the progress and importance of the area’s fishing industry. Many nautical pieces can be found here, as well as Indian artifacts, and photos and other pieces from Orange Beach’s past.
