While there are no longer vendors serving alcohol at Crab Island, visitors to this famous sandbar are more than welcome to bring their own. Please be aware that most rental companies and Crab Island tour providers, however, do not allow glass bottles on board. The water at Crab Island has an average depth of around 3 feet. The center part of the sandbar is the most shallow, sometimes only inches deep at low tide. Since weather and tides can be unpredictable, however, it is recommended to bring floaties or life vests for any little ones in your group.
While you might see a Blue Crab here and there, they are not as populous as one may think with a name like Crab Island.
