Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art Visitors Guide
Known as the "Mad Potter of Biloxi”, many of George Ohr’s works are on display at the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum. These pieces include his earliest works as well as his more recent creations, including portraits and landscapes. Frank Gehry designed an award-winning campus of intriguing and intertwined buildings. While the buildings and exhibits offer exclusive experiences, they are not isolated from one another - making it a unified vision synced together by the expansive brick plaza and the majestic live oaks.
The Ohr-O'Keefe Museum is home to rotating collections as well as permanent collections ranging from pottery to paintings and photographs. At the museum, you can see amazing pieces of art, as well as the Pleasant Reed Interpretive Center. At the center, you can gain valuable insights into the African American experience in Mississippi following the Civil War through the eyes of the Reed family.
If you’re visiting the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art for a day or two, you can take in the beautiful art exhibits that embody the imaginative spirit of this famous artist and all the Southeastern region. If you have an extended stay, you can sign up for ceramics classes in the sweeping ceramics studio. Some of the most popular classes include Mudslingers Wheel Class, Date Night Wheel, and Ceramic Christmas Tree.
