The Activity we Experienced
What we chose to do
We Could Visually Imagine Living in that Time Period
How did you discover this activity?
We found this activity available through TripShock on Google when searching for things to do in the area.
When did you book your tour compared to the departure date?
We booked the night beforehand, and surprisingly there was availability.
Why did you choose this activity?
We booked this tour to learn about the history of Jefferson-Davis. The reviews were very favorable, and we can now understand why.
How did you get to the activity location?
We were staying at the casino and wanted to do a day trip. It was a short distance from the Island View, so we drove there. Parking was free.
What was your experience with the activity’s staff?
The tour, by Rob, was very informative and historic. He read our groups interest very well, and the stories that went with the items made it so much more interesting. Seriously, he was fabulous!
Seeing the house is a must. Put it on your must-do list if you want to learn the history of the area, and see if he is available!
Highlights or memories you and your group will take from the trip?
The beauty of the house, artifacts, style, furniture, grounds, garden, and cemetery were easy to navigate at your own pace. We took our time and really enjoyed it. Even Traveler, their dog, is marked and buried on the property. It was very easy to visually imagine living in that time period.
The gift shop is very well stocked with cookbooks, books, novelties, poster prints of documents, pins, patches, and shirts. There really is something for everyone.
Would you recommend this activity to another group like yours? Why or why not?
This tour was great for my husband and I. There was a family of 7 in our group with grandparents, a couple, a teen, a child age 6 or 7, and a newborn, who all appeared to enjoy it, as well.
