When did you book your tour compared to the departure date?

I booked the tour the night before.

Why did you choose this activity?

As a plus size woman, I have a fear of doing many activities, one being in a bathing suit around a bunch of people. Snorkeling was something that I always wanted to try, but I was always scared to!

How did you get to the activity location?

We drove from our car to the location. It took about 10 minutes to get there.

What was your experience with the activity’s staff?

Captain Bruce was very knowledgeable about the area and was able to locate dolphins easily!

Highlights or memories you and your group will take from the trip?

I remember when we checked in to our hotel, all I could think about was how beautiful the Gulf water was. The further out we drove on the boat, the more clear the water became. It was gorgeous and unlike any water I have ever seen.

We went to Shell Island and snorkeled for awhile, and Captain Bruce gave us bags for our shells. As a plus-sized woman who is scared of heights, Captain Bruce was very accommodating to me. He was always willing to put down the ladder so I didn’t have to jump directly off the boat.

Completing this activity was way out of my comfort zone, but not once did I feel judged by anyone, and I am SO glad I took the leap. Seeing the fish, crabs, and jellyfish underwater is an experience I’ll never forget. He also had drinks in a cooler for us, which was a nice little touch.

YES! Do it! If you’re plus sized and scared, do it! If you have kids, they’ll love it, too.
